The BCTF’s Annual General Meeting is coming up, March 15-18 at the Hyatt Vancouver. BCTAA is sending a delegation of 19 teachers, representing 8 different locals across BC.
We have done AGM training and have held strategy sessions to speak against 4 problematic and antisemitic motions that will be on the floor. These include BDS, APR, adopting the JDA, and pension divestment from Israeli companies or companies that invest in Israel. We are steadfast in our opposition to these motions.
Motions such as these undermine solidarity, amplify divisiveness, and marginalize Jewish and allied teachers. BCTAA believes that the BCTF should focus on matters that all BC teachers care about: teacher recruitment and retention, fair wages and benefits, safe and thriving working and learning conditions.
BCTAA wants a union that represents all its members, not just the vocal minority.
